The Best Holiday Present for AMC

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dan Theodorescu, MD, PhD, as the next director of the University of Colorado Cancer Center. We couldn't have asked for better news this holiday season!

Dr. Theodorescu is a urological surgeon, currently Director of the Mellon Prostate Cancer Institute at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Originally from Romania, Dr. Theodorescu received his PhD in molecular and cell biology from the University of Toronto under the mentorship of internationally renowned cancer biologist Dr. Robert Kerbel. He then trained as a urologic oncologist at Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center before joining the faculty at the University of Virginia, where he has built an impressive translational oncology program.

Dr. Theodorescu is a highly accomplished researcher having received several awards, including the American Association for Cancer Research Sydney Kimmel Award, the Society for Basic Urologic Research Young Investigator Award and the New York Academy of Medicine's Edwin Beer Award.

Dan will assume the position of director on July 1, 2010. Right now, he's scheduled to be at the University of Colorado Cancer Center Scientific Retreat on March 19, 2010 (details to come). We know he and his family will love Colorado. We look forward to Dan's friendship and leadership in the years to come.
